Americký sitcom se odehrává v Los Angeles a Cybill Shepherdová v něm ztělesňuje herečku okolo čtyřicítky Cybill Sheridanovou, která má dvě dcery, za sebou dva rozvody a před sebou nejistou budoucnost. Přesto s humorem a odhodlaností čelí každé nové výzvě. Cybill je skvěle napsaný a výborně zahraný břitký televizní sitcom, který vypráví o samostatném rodičovství, rozvodu, sexu a vyrovnání se s věkem. Cybill Shepherdová v něm ztělesňuje televizní herečku Cybill Sheridanovou z Los Angeles, čtyřicátnici která vším tím prochází: sama vychovává dvě dospívající dcery Rachel (Dedee Pfeifferová) a Zoey (Alicia Wittová), má za sebou dva rozvody, i když oba bývalí manželé (Tom Wopat a Alan Rosenberg) nadále zůstávají součástí jejího života, a před sebou nejistou budoucnost. Ale také má dobrou kamarádku Maryann (Christine Baranskiová), která sice trochu moc pije, ale rozhodně jí nechybí pochopení. Cybill s humorem a odhodlaností čelí každé nové výzvě, kterou jí osud postaví do cesty, a bojuje o to, aby si nejen uchovala mladistvý sexy vzhled, ale také práci, o niž ji chce připravit její rivalka Andrea (Morgan Fairchildová).
